CNBC reported on new trends in what consumers are looking for in new homes. [Watch the clip to the third segment.]

The American Institute of Architects Design Trends study shows a distinct shift in the way that consumers are thinking about the functionality of their home, with the focus on creating more use and more efficiency out of the space.

I think it's interesting that more people are seeking home offices and are less concerned with other features. I know that more and more, apartment communities are highlighting their business center and conference facilities, as well as “computer nooks” as an added amenity to an apartment home. Most of the properties that we list on 4 Walls are very conscious of these trends. People are working longer hours and they're doing it at home. Leaving the office isn't like leaving the office anymore…
